Fay Hankins
This gallery shows the work of weaver and fabric designer Fay Hankins who is business partner and mother! to Liz.
Fay started in 1968 when she was apprenticed to Tadek Beutlich, the acclaimed Polish artist and weaver and was his assistant until 1974 when Tadek moved to Spain.
Fay then set up a workshop in Ditchling in East Sussex exhibiting at many British Craft Council shows and various guilds including the Ditchling Handworkers Guild,in galleries across Britain and abroad.
In the 1980's she moved into woven fashion fabrics and was well known for the range of colours and fabrics used.Her designs have been taken up by Liberty of London and other design houses, including Sonya Rikyiel, Bill Gibb and Conran.
In 1991 upon her husbands retirement she moved to Wales where the Brecon Beacon inspired her landscape wall hangings.
2002 saw her move to Tetbury where she continues to weave for shows and exhibitions.
